Marriage to Sid Williams

Congresswoman Maxine Waters is currently married to Sidney "Sid" Williams. Williams is a businessman, former NFL player, and diplomat. They met in the mid-1970s while both working in Los Angeles City politics and have been together ever since.

Maxine's First Marriage

Prior to her relationship with Williams, Maxine Waters was married to Edward Waters. They wed when she was just out of high school. However, they later divorced.

Children and Allegations

Maxine Waters and Sid Williams do not have any children together. Williams is the stepfather to Maxine's children from her previous marriage: Karen Waters and Edward Waters Jr. In recent years, there have been allegations that Waters and her husband used their political influence to benefit their family members. Specifically, it has been claimed that they helped a company secure government bond business and that their children have profited from this connection. Waters has denied these allegations.
