No Relief from Silver Medal
The German mixed doubles table tennis duo of Timo Boll and Patrick Franziska have expressed their disappointment after winning silver at the Tokyo Olympics. Despite putting up a valiant effort, they fell short against their Chinese opponents in the gold medal match.
In a post-match interview, Boll expressed his frustration, saying, "We can't retrieve it." He further lamented, "We didn't play our best in the second half."
Franziska echoed Boll's sentiments, saying, "We're disappointed. We wanted to win the gold medal." He added, "We had our chances, but we didn't take them."
Despite their disappointment, Boll and Franziska acknowledged the quality of their opponents, who they described as "very strong." The German duo praised the Chinese team for their "incredible defense" and "unbelievable attacking power."
Boll and Franziska's silver medal is Germany's first Olympic medal in table tennis since 2008. They will now turn their attention to the upcoming European Championships, where they will hope to add to their medal collection.
