Dominant Second Quarter Fuels Victory

Serbia Built Early Lead, But Team USA Rallied

The United States men's basketball team has kicked off its Olympic gold medal defense in style, defeating Serbia 110-84 in the opening game of the Paris Olympics. After Serbia built an early 4-0 lead, the United States flag-bearer, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, stole the ball from Nikola Jokić and ran down the court for an easy layup. This sparked a 31-17 run by Team USA in the second quarter, giving them a double-digit lead heading into the half.

The United States continued to control the game in the second half, with Bogdan Bogdanović leading the way with 20 points. Team USA's victory was a collective effort, with seven players scoring in double figures. Nikola Jokić led Serbia with 21 points, but it was not enough to overcome the United States' balanced attack.

The victory is a positive start for Team USA, who are looking to win their fourth consecutive Olympic gold medal. They will face Canada in their next game on Tuesday.
