Shock withdrawal as 2012 gold medallist misses Paris 2024

Six-time Olympic medallist, who won team and individual gold in London 2012, says she will not compete after video from four years ago emerged

British equestrian star Charlotte Dujardin has withdrawn from the Paris 2024 Olympics after a video from four years ago emerged.

Dujardin, Britain's joint-most decorated female Olympian, won team and individual gold medals at the London 2012 Games on horse Valegro and has won six Olympic medals across the three Games she has competed at.

She announced her shock withdrawal on the eve of the Olympic on Tuesday (July 23).

Dujardin has not commented on the video, but it is understood to show her riding a horse in a way that contravenes equestrian rules.

The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) said in a statement that it "has been made aware of a video on social media that appears to show a British equestrian athlete riding in a manner that is not in accordance with FEI (International Equestrian Federation) rules".

The BEF said it is "currently investigating the matter and will take appropriate action in line with our rules and procedures".
